Amsterdam battered by storms
It has been reported in the last few hours that the Dutch ministry for Traffic and Water Infrastructure has put the Netherlands on high alert due to violent storms across the region. Amsterdam holiday makers should keep a close eye on weather reports as the sea is excepted to rise almost three metres above the normal level for the city (NAP).
Having given the warnings, the Dutch authorities were keen to stress that they had everything under control, and major travel disruption was unlikely. Storms like this often pass over the country and rarely cause significant delays.
