I prefer the canals to the prostitutes

I love to walk along the Amsterdam canals. It is a great day out for the family and best of all - it is free. There are many attractive cobbled streets that end in small bridges over the picturesque canals. The houses are tall and narrow and line the canal streets like so many books on a library shelf.

What I find disturbing is the Red Light District. Very young girls pose almost naked in windows lit by flashing neon lights. You expect the area to be a bit sleazy but its not at all. The streets are clean, there are loads of tourists walking around and lots of small cafes and eateries.
