BMI scraps cheap flights from Aberdeen

BMI is scrapping its flights from Aberdeen to Amsterdam at the end of August. BMI currently operates twice daily flights to Amsterdam during the week and one on Sundays. Services will cease on August 31. The news is a serious blow to Aberdeen airport.

A spokesman for BMI said the airline was still committed to flying from Aberdeen, adding and said the company wil continue to look at opportunities to develop new routes. The firm plans to increase its service from Aberdeen to Manchester to seven return flights a day at the start of September. Passengers can still fly direct to Amsterdam with Dutch national airline KLM.
