Tight squeeze when Yotel opens at Schiphol

It's going to be a tight squeeze in the Dutch capital. Amsterdam is the latest European city to get a trendy Yotel - the Japanese-style hotel pod which offers visitors the use of capsule rooms by the hour.

Earlier this year, Europe's first Yotel was opened in London at Gatwick Airport in London. There are plans in the pipeline (literally?) to open a second 320-pod hotel at London Heathrow. The 55-podn hotel in is at Schiphol Airport and should open in early 2008.

Each Yotel capsule has a bed, shower, plasma TV and internet connection. Pods range in in size from 22sq ft to 32sq ft - that is 8tf by 4ft. The company is also now looking at airports and city centre locations in the USA.
