Spacecakes cooked with free range eggs
Amsterdam's coffee shops are baking their hashish "spacecakes" with free range eggs. Dutch animal rights group Wakker Dier, has been campaigning against the use of eggs from caged chickens on battery farms.
Now four coffeeshops have agreed to switch to free range eggs for their "spacecakes" which are baked with marijuana or hashish for a bigger high. About 20 more plan to follow. The shops use hundreds of eggs each week.
In Amsterdam coffee shops marijuana can be smoked openly are they one of Amsterdam's big tourist attractions. Soft drugs are officially illegal in the Netherlands but under a policy of tolerance, buyers can have up to 5 grams of cannabis in their possession.
