British top visitor lists to Spain
The British top the visitors league table to Spain, according to official figures released by the Spanish Ministry for Industry, Tourism and Trade. Barcelona is clearly a favourite destination as a quarter of all visitors to Spain since January this year were heading for Cataluna, making it the most popular tourist destination in Spain.
More than half the 15 million visitors between January and April this year were British, Germans and French. The 3.9million British visiting were comfortably ahead of the Germans (2.6m) and French on 2.1m. The overall figures were 3.3% up on 2007.
