New Barcelona hotel in Eixample
Barcelona has a new chic hotel in the Eixample area of the city. The Murmuri is owned by the same people that have the nearby, and more traditional Majestic. Their new offering has been receiving warm reviews, paricularly for the hotel's excellent bedrooms that feature sumptuous bathrooms.
The Murmuri is on the Rambla de Catalunya, a tree-lined boulevard that is ideal for those looking for a little local retail therapy. It's also convenient for famous Gaudi sites such as La Pedrera, plus the world famous block designed by a clutch of architects called the Manzana de la Discordia.
For those eating away from the hotel's facilities, there's a wide selection of high quality restaurants nearby plus cafes galore. It's also not too far to the Ramblas for that obligatory evening stroll down Barcelona's most famous thouroughfare.
The Murmuri features king sized beds, soothing lighting, TVs with plasma screens and quality fixtures. The rooms feature chargeable wi-fi and while not huge, some have the benefit of balconies so you can look down on the busy city street below. The bathrooms are large and luxuriously equipped with large baths, double sinks and Moulton and Brown toiletries.
There's a restaurant and a cocktail bar that appears to attract a glamorous clientele.
Prices for this well-located hotel seem pretty reasonable at 159 euros and upwards, although higher prices are forecast for the autumn. The Hotel Murmuri is at Rambla de Catalunya 104, Barcelona and can be called on 00 34 93 550-0600 or reached on www.murmuri.com
