Brits can't stomach foreign food

More than a third of Brits (34 %) have been to Greece and never tried a moussaka. And more than a quarter (26 %) who have been to Spain have shunned paella, while about a fifth (18 %) say they have never even heard of the famous Spanish dish.

British holidaymakers snub the local cuisine over fears of a bout of food poisoning, according to research by Churchill Travel Insurance.  Around a third (33 %) of Brits have no idea what a tapas is because, rather than risk a dodgy stomach, they opt for eating what they know best, though there is no less likelihood of food poisoning from a local dish than there is from egg and chips.

But the research shows nearly a third (30 %) of Brits give the local menus the thumbs down, while a whopping 56% confess to kick-starting the day with their favourite fatty English fry up.
