Many people planning holiday breaks in Barcelona will be pleased to learn that the city's summer sales season is now under way.
The summer sale season, which offers plenty of discounts and special offers all over the popular holiday city, began on July 1 and will continue until August 31.
Some 50,000 retail outlets in Barcelona and throughout the Catalonia region will be selling summer sale bargains. Some will also open on Sunday 6 July, which is one of only eight non-working days on which shops in the city are allowed to open.
Visitors to Barcelona who prefer to relax on the beach rather than rush around the shops will also find an interesting offer this summer – a beach library service.
The scheme is being run by the Barcelona Library Consortium and the City Council environment department and is hoped to encourage beach bathers to read more.
Book, magazine and newspaper borrowing will be available between the hours of 11am and 7pm on Barceloneta beach and on the Bac de Roda breakwater on Nova Mar Bella beach.
