Monaco sends earthquake aid to China

Monaco has sent humanitarian aid worth €150,000 to China via the World Health Organization following the devastating earthquake in Sicuan. Prince Albert spoke highly of the Chinese government's efforts and efficiency in conducting rescue work as China's new ambassador to Monaco, Kong Quan, presented his credentials to the Prince last Thursday at the Royal Palace in the Principality .

Kong Quan, who also serves as the Chinese ambassador to France, conveyed the sincere regards of China's President Hu Jintao to Prince Albert II. The prince expressed his condolences to the Chinese people over the earthquake.


As the Monacan head of state and member of the International Olympic Committee, Prince Albert II will attend the Beijing Olympics in August. The prince said he is looking forward to the Games and wished the event great success.
