Emirates, the high-class Dubai-based airline is hoping to triple passenger numbers to Nice and other destinations on the French Riviera this year, with a planned expansion of its services to the south of France.
A French spokesman for Emirates explained in more detail: "We will run three flights a week between Dubai and Nice, each with a stop in Rome, Italy. This will change to five weekly non-stop services from the 1st of December". The airline already runs a number of services to Paris.
Emirates are hoping to promote the cities of Nice and Cannes, and hopefully atract travelers to the Principality of Monaco. This move possibly being linked to the upcoming, and incredibly popular Monaco Grand Prix.
The airline is expected to use Airbus A330 aircraft holding about 230 passengers. 50,000 travelers from the Middle east pass through Nice Airport each year helping to make it France's second busiest airport.
