Michelin-starred chef Alexis Gaultier, the executive chef at Roussillon in London, says his favourite table is the Voyageur Nissart in Nice. He says: “The simple Niçois food there is amazing and an entire meal will cost you the price of an aperitif at Le Gavroche.”
The Voyageur Nissart is located right in the town centre, between Avenue Jean Medecin and the main SNCF railway station. The restaurant says that for three generations, respect for tradition and authentic recipes have assured the success of this typical Nice restaurant. It provides the flavours of niçoise cuisine in a rustic setting with a friendly ambience.
There are three set menus at Voyageur Nissart, starting at €14.90; the typical niçois menu at €17.90 and the degustation menu at €21.90, all of them astonishing value for money. The specialities vary daily according to what’s available at the market. An a la carte menu is also available.
Niçois cuisine can be found in many restaurants in Nice yet this endorsement of the Voyageur Nissart, published in the Guadian, will make it even more important to book ahead for a table when you are next in Nice and want to sample the local cuisine at its best.
