Riga is among a list of top city break destinations predicted to be popular among holidaymakers in 2008.
According to Holiday Lettings, the top tourist traps in the new year are mostly eastern European and include Riga, Kiev, Moscow, Kracow, Dubrovnik and Prague.
The company also claims that holidaymakers will look to travel during March, April, October and November when prices are traditionally lower than in the high summer season.
They say 2008 weekend break destination may quickly become week or 14 day holiday destination by 2009 or even holiday home locations for some potential investors.
Recent research conducted by the company revealed that 38 per cent of holidaymakers take to two short city breaks in addition to their annual holiday.
