Monaco Yacht Show goes green
This year's acclaimed Monaco Yacht Show will be taking an Eco friendly slant when it opens in September of this year.
The 'Carbon Neutral' event begins at Monaco's Port Hercules on September the 24th and runs for four days. During the show 500 leading companies in the lucrative luxury yachting sector will exhibit their floating palaces to drooling tourists and multi-millionaires alike.
28,000 participants have signed up for this year's show including Swiss watchmaker Blancpain and Compagnie Monégasque de Banque the official sponsor since 2005.
To avoid being labeled as providing vulgar luxury to a privileged few, the show's charity work is always well documented.
The respected CEO of the show is Luc Pettavino, who chairs the Monegasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy which has benefited hugely from the yacht show since 2001. 2.7 million Euros was raised last year and 50% of the entrance fee always goes to charity.
Despite this pleasing generosity, the chances of 'buy one get one free' offers surfacing are apparently relativity low!
