Riga comes top in website poll
Riga and its historic centre - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is one of the favourite European cities for travellers according to an Igoyougo poll. Rich in superb Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) architecture, the city is one of the new favourites of the Europeans.
Website visitors say thee capital of Latvia combines grown-up urban attitude with a pretty, historical core, marrying the enchanting streets of its old town, the Jugenstil architecture and plenty of pubs, bars, and nightclubs.
Visitors say the city offers plenty of budget recommendations with hearty filling dishes and cheap booze. Several low cost airlines fly to Riga from London and Berlin. British low-cost airline easyJet plans to have carried about 300,000 passengers on the Riga-Berlin route by next May.
