Top new films showing in Venice

The European film festival season is well underway. The film industry's attention will soon shift from Cannes - where the industry is camped out at present - to Venice, where the Lido based Festival starts on 27th August. Amongst the big films showing are the Coen Brothers' Burn After Reading; Body of Lies with Leonardo DeCaprio and the Saul Dibb's drama The Dutchess.

Twenty two major films are said to be on show, all making their world premieres, a sign that the Venice Film Festival is highly regarded by the industry.

Accommodation inevitably gets tougher to find at Festival time. In Cannes, at present, it's much more difficult to accommodation near the Riviera resort than normal. In Venice, where pre-booking is highly advisable at any time of the year, many of the best rooms will have been snapped up for late August by the film industry's travelling army and the press that follows them.
